i’m talking about what i consider common criminal activities or some trivial event not serial murders on the loose. Example would be if a kid stole a car and crashed it into a fire hydrant. Most of these press conferences i think are pointless and mean nothing to anyone except those involved.

Because some people want to be in the limelight (those throwing these things) and then there’s the whole rubbernecker-nation that tues into the local TV news just to get the dirt on someone else…

Try updating the drivers from the manufacturers web page under support. If that doesn’t work then try to configure your web cam in either settings or preferences in Yahoo Messenger.

I downloaded skype to use with my teammates, and we were trying to figure out how to do a video conference but could not get it to work. All we could do was a "conference call" with sound, but no video. We could do video chats 1 on 1, but not among the whole group.

Is this possible, or can you only do voice group conferences and not video group conferences?

Unfortunately on Skype, you can only do one-one video. There are third party software you can try (see below). Check out ooVoo as well.

They learn the state of the art as it is today and get to suggest areas of research. Pretty valuable for someone wanting to make space exploration a career

I heard on Yahoo! Answers that there are these things called writing/pitch conferences for writers to pitch their work — I was wondering if there were any good ones in New York — for novelists and/or screenwriters would be great!

Well, I know every third year, New York hosts BookExpo America, one of the largest expos for publishers in the world. A lot of organizations, such as Writer’s Digest, hold huge writing conferences that are tied into BEA every year. The bad news: I think BEA was in L.A. this year and will be in D.C. next, so it would be 2010 before it came around again. The Association of Writers and Writing Programs would be another good conference to attend. The problem with these big (yet very helpful) conferences is that they typically travel. I think AW&WP is in Chicago next year… sorry I couldn’t help, but maybe you can keep an eye out for when they travel to NYC, or you can make it to D.C. or Chicago. Good luck!
