The Surgical Society at Imperial College School of Medicine (ICSM) is proud to present Trauma Conference 2008 – a National Conference on Trauma Medicine for medical students. Now in its third successful year, this year’s conference is taking place on the 8th-9th November 2008 at the Sir Alexander Fleming Building, South Kensington Campus, London, SW7 2AZ.
The aim of the Trauma Conference 2008 is to provide over 200 medical students from across the United Kingdom and Europe with the opportunity to gain unrivalled teaching in the extremely popular field of Trauma Medicine/Surgery. Our highly dedicated Surgical Society Committee has worked very hard to put together a comprehensive weekend timetable which covers all major aspects of Trauma Management as outlined in the most recent edition of the American Trauma Life Support (ATLS) 2004 guidelines.
The programme includes both lecture and practical-based teaching. Practicals serve to consolidate students’ knowledge from lectures and give attendees the unique opportunity to strengthen key practical skills. All lectures and practical sessions will be instructed by high-ranking medical staff from Imperial College teaching hospitals, including the renowned St Mary’s and Charing Cross Hospitals.
Ticket sales begin on the 1st August 2008 with limited places.

IOMC 2009 is the 2nd Online Conference on Medicine taking place on March 14 & 15, 2009. It aims to provide a forum for discussing and presenting research findings, studies, and experiences in the field of medicine, to create an opportunity for medical researchers, activists, scientists, students, and specialists to meet each other online and share their research papers, and to provide a chance to find new research colleagues and partners for future research works.
An International Advisory Committee (IAC), comprising international experts and Medical Professors guide the development of the conference program and agenda. A Program Scientific Committee (PSC) supplements the activities of IAC, and decides on identification of moderators and speakers, evaluates conference papers, and finalizes the agenda for the conferences.
Authors are invited to submit papers related to one of the conference themes.
All accepted conference papers will be published in the conference proceeding electronically by a well-know international publisher under the US ISBN. Besides, the printed Proceedings Book will also be available.
There are several awards including Best Paper Award, Best Student Paper Award, and Best Presentation Award.
The conference has a Students’ Board which welcomes more involvement from medical students, and encourages them to submit their research works, reports, and papers to the conference.
IOMC will take place completely online. This is what makes IOMC quite different from ever-introduced and held conferences, as it is the FIRST International ONLINE conference of its kind covering Medical field which has already held one successful conference in 2008.
The online nature of IOMC saves the conference participants from paying extra costs of travel, accommodation, and visa. Instead, conference participants can simply register to the conference and log in to conference website in order to attend different conference presentations and workshops online.
